Blackpool Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit at Victoria Hospital provides care for women with problems in early pregnancy from six to 16 weeks.

You will need an appointment. The most common reasons for referral are:

  • Bleeding and/or pain with a positive pregnancy test
  • Women with previous ectopic pregnancy/history of endometriosis and previous laparoscopic surgery
  • Two consecutive miscarriages in previous pregnancies
  • Ongoing management following problems from previous early pregnancy ultrasound in the private sector

We are staffed by specialist nurses and sonographers with direct access to medical colleagues.

Referred patients are triaged by clinical staff. Your care may involve an ultrasound scan if this is considered appropriate. We may also perform blood testing/scanning to confirm a pregnancy.

We are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm with the last scan at 4.30pm and Sunday 9am to 1pm (emergency inpatients take priority). Call us on 01253 953731.
