Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust offer a community-based cardiac rehabilitation programme within the local area.

You will be automatically referred to the service following your heart event by the staff on your ward; however, you can choose to opt out at any time. You may also be referred to our service if you live in the region but have had a heart event or treatment (listed below) at a different hospital. In this case the referral should be sent to us (by the ward where you were cared for) on discharge.

We can include the following patient groups:

  • Myocardial Infarct (MI) (Heart attack)
  • Revascularisation procedures including angioplasty (stents), coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG)
  • Valve repairs / replacements including TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation)
  • Heart Transplant
  • Heart Failure

The team is multidisciplinary and consists of:

  • Nurses
  • Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Technical Instructors (PTTIs)
  • Occupational Therapists (OT) and Occupational Therapy Technical Instructors (OTTIs)
  • Clinical Psychologists
  • Administrators

We also have access to a range of other professionals, services and information resources including Nutrition and Dietetics and Community Health and Wellbeing services.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation office is situated on the second floor of the Lancashire Cardiac Centre, Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
