In-patient therapy services are provided at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and Clifton Hospital.  All our qualified therapists are registered with the Health Care Professions Council, ensuring a consistent professional standard of training, professional skills and behaviour, and they are supported by a team of therapy assistants.

Therapists are involved in a variety of multi-disciplinary teams throughout the acute and rehabilitation settings, aiming to support patients during their hospital stay.  Indication for a therapy referral may be related to a change in functional status from pre-admission level for a variety of reasons including mobility, transfers, management of their activities of daily living, cognition and mood.  Through utilisation of our specialist skills, the therapy team complete rehabilitation interventions, working towards achieving patient-centred goals.  We also provide moving and handling recommendations for ward staff and to help the discharge services determine support needs to facilitate discharge.  Alongside this, we provide a specialist respiratory on-call physiotherapy service during both day and nighttime hours for urgent chest physiotherapy intervention.
