Position: Consultant Podiatric Surgeon

Professional Interests: Bunion (hallux valgus) correction. Registered podiatric surgery tutor; training future foot surgeons. Reconstructive foot surgery. Improving outcomes in foot surgery. Applied biomechanics of the foot.

Full Name: Mr. George Flanagan

Position: Podiatrist

Professional Interests: Reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, non-malignant proliferative disease of the foot

Background Experience: A Surgical Fellow of the College of Podiatry.  Surgical training in UK, USA and Germany.  Currently national Medical Advisor and Trustee to The British Dupuytren's Society advising on Ledderhose Disease (plantar fibromatosis).

Position: Staff Podiatrist

Professional Interests: Podiatric Surgery. Currently studying MSc Theory of Podiatric Surgery at University of Huddersfield. Patient assessment, Local anaesthesia, post-operative pain relief, patient outcomes and post-operative care.

Background Experience: Pennine Care and Pennine Acute - routine community podiatry clinics and biomechanics. West Yorkshire NHS (Pontefract) - Staff Podiatrist in Podiatric Surgery

Full Name: Deborah Middleton

Position: Nursing Sister

Professional Interests: Patient journey through the department, particularly enjoy the whole team whole care aspect, interested in pre-surgery assessment, building good relationships with patients/clients, high quality care, compassionate, professional

Background Experience: Nursing training in Blackpool Victoria Hospital. She has worked in the private sector and moved on to work as a Sheltered Housing Scheme Manager for Blackpool Borough Council for seven years, responsible for health and social wellbeing of 50 tenants and qualified as a Mediation Officer (first service to be set up in the town). Deborah completed her primary degree - BSc (Hons) Nursing. She joined the department of Foot and Ankle Surgery in 2001. She is committed to ongoing education and has completed further training in Mentorship, Masters-level Practice Education, pre assessment RCN accredited course.

 

Full Name: Rachel Scothern

Position: Mr Murphy’s Secretary

Professional Interests: Patient-centred approach to the role.

Background Experience: Rachel joined the Foot and Ankle Surgery Team in 2013 and became Mr Murphy’s secretary in 2014. Previously, Rachel was customer services manager for 15 years for a life insurance company, managing a team of 15 in the partnerships division.
