With heartfelt condolences from all of us at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals
We understand that the death of someone special can leave an emptiness that is deeply felt. Each year, we come together as a community to honour and remember those we have loved and lost.
Our annual memorial services are a gentle, supportive space for reflection, comfort, and togetherness.
About the services:
- Tree of Lights Remembrance Service - Monday, 7 December at 7pm. The event will take place at the Village Hotel, East Park Drive, FY3 8LL. It is an annual memorial service open to everyone to remember loved ones.
- Annual Baby Loss Remembrance Service - Tuesday, 8 December at 7pm. The event will take place at the Village Hotel, East Park Drive, FY3 8LL. No matter how brief, the presence of a baby leaves a mark that lasts. This service is a gentle gathering for families who have lost little ones through miscarriage, stillbirth or infancy.
- Snow Drop Remembrance Service - Saturday, 27 February 2027 at 10.30am. The event will take place at Stanley Park Visitor Centre. Nothing can truly express the pain of losing a child - the Children's Memorial Service provides the opportunity to give families and friends a gentle space to remember.
During the services, families and friends are invited to remember their loved ones in meaningful and personal ways.
This may include:
- Talking moments of quiet reflection
- Placing a message in our Memorial Book
- Listening to readings, music and words of comfort.
We hope this space helps bring solace, connection, and a sense of shared understanding at a time when it is needed most.
Our Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Team and Swan End of Life and Bereavement Care Teams are available at the services.
We recognise that grief can feel heavy, but you do not need to carry it alone. Our memorial service offers a compassionate environment where people can gather with others who share similar experiences. Many families tell us that the sense of community and empathy brings comfort and hope.
Following the service, you are warmly invited to stay for refreshments
It is a gentle opportunity to pause, share memories, or simply be present.
The events are free to attend and you can register interest to attend using the link below or by contacting the Swan Bereavement Team on bfwh.
Ideally, we ask people to register interest to enable us to know numbers for catering requirements.
