The Cardiac Investigations Unit (CIU) consists of cardiac physiologists, assistant cardiac physiologists and admin support staff. The cardiac physiologists cover both invasive and non invasive cardiology. The department offers a full range of non-invasive diagnostic testing, see “Patient Journey – Diagnosis, Tests” for more information on these.

The team consists of highly specialised cardiac physiologists who work in the more advanced techniques within CIU e.g cardiac ultrasound and cardiac rhythm management, specialised cardiac physiologists predominantly work within the cardiac catheter laboratories and also undertake some of the non invasive cardiology testing e.g. exercise stress testing. The assistant cardiac physiologist perform ECGs on the wards and in the outpatient clinics as well as fitting ambulatory monitors. The team is managed by Angela Reed and Gill Worthington.
