Introduction

Nasogastric tube (NGT) feeding is the most common route for enteral feeding. An NGT enables adequate fluid and nutritional intake to be delivered directly to the stomach bypassing the oral route. It is usually the first route to be considered if oral intake is inadequate or contraindicated, but the gastro-intestinal tract is functioning.
