Breast Care Education Session
What is the Breast Care education session?
The education session is an informal session where you will meet
the Breast Care Nurse and Breast Cancer Support Worker. The
session will cover common effects after breast cancer treatment.
There will also be information available about services in the
community.
Why should I go?
To find out about what care is available to you throughout your
breast cancer treatment, from the hospital and in the community.
To make sure that you know what signs and symptoms to look out
for and who to contact if you are concerned.
How do I get an appointment?
You will automatically be given an appointment when your surgeon
enters you into Patient Led Follow Up. If you are still receiving
treatment you may decide to wait until after this has finished.
What will happen there?
• You will be part of a small group.
• There will be some informal talks.
• There will be the chance to ask questions, either as part
of the group or on a one to one basis.
• There will be a break with refreshments.
A typical session will be from 1:30-3:30

• Introduction to Patient Led Follow Up
• Late effects of treatment
• What symptoms to report
• Endocrine treatment and side effects
• Psychological effects of treatment
• Lymphoedema
• Healthy lifestyle
• Local support groups
