This finger food menu has been designed as a collaborative effort between the nutrition and dietetic department at Clifton Hospital and Atlas BFW Management.
It has been designed to enable patients at Clifton Hospital to choose items that will supplement the main patient as snack items or to be used on its own to constitute an alternative main meal.
The intention of this menu is to support and enhance the patient's nutrition and dining experience with the support of nursing staff and relatives.
Finger foods can be:
- Served at the table in place of a plated meal
- Offered as snacks between meals
- Left in different places to pick up and eat throughout the day.
- Enable people to feed themselves, helping maintain independence
- Help preserve eating skills
- Can renew interest in food and stimulate appetite
- Can improve food intake
- Can boost confidence and self-esteem at mealtimes
- Offer more choice and freedom to eat as desired
- Don't always need to be served hot, good for people who need time to eat
