Congratulations to BTH’s Rachel Jump who has been awarded the Queen’s Nurse title.

Rachel Jump - Queen's Nurse.jpgRachel, who is the Team Leader at Lytham District Nursing Team has been given the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by community nursing charity The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN).

The title is not an award for past service but indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities and a shared professional identity.

Steph Lawrence MBE, Chief Executive of the QICN said: “On behalf of the QICN I would like to congratulate Rachel and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse. Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers. We look forward to working with Rachel and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”

Rachel said “I feel incredibly proud to have received the prestigious Queens Nurse Title, in recognition of my commitment to maintaining consistent high standards of nursing care. It is a privilege to champion and promote community nursing and leadership and my values align with those of the QICN, alongside my dedication and passion for this area of specialist nursing.

“As a Queens Nurse, I aim to contribute to the futureproofing of the community nursing workforce by engaging with the QICN network and maintaining this shared professional identity, alongside continuation of being a compassionate leader and making a positive difference to our patients, which to me, is what nursing is all about.”

Additionally, Rachel was also the winner of the Amanda Thompson Lytham St Annes Team award in December. Amanda was the Deputy head of Locality (Fylde) and the award is an annual celebration in her memory for outstanding contribution to the team, with the winner being voted for by members of the team.

Kay Dalton, Deputy Head of Locality (Fylde), said Rachel “has shown compassion, courage, composure and above all resilience during difficult working times. Rachel is a compassionate leader who maintains the focus of the staff but ensures patient care and safety are at the centre of care provision.”
