Hospital services in Blackpool and Fleetwood have been rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), following recent inspections.
Medical services at Blackpool Victoria Hospital have improved to a ‘Good’ rating, with progress recognised across safety, effectiveness, responsiveness and leadership.
Inspectors highlighted consistent progress across all key areas, including safe, effective, responsive and well-led care saying: “Staff provided care to meet people’s needs that was safe, supportive and enabled people to do the things that mattered to them.”
Patients told inspectors they were treated with kindness and respect and felt involved in decisions about their care.
Fleetwood Hospital’s outpatient services have also been rated ‘Good’ overall, improving from a previous rating of ‘Requires Improvement,’ with no regulatory breaches identified.
Patients described the service as easy to access, with appointments running on time and staff taking the time to listen and respond to their concerns.
The service has also seen improvements in reducing missed appointments, supported by changes to booking systems and patient communication.
Dr Neil Hartley Smith, Chief Medical Officer, said: “We are really pleased that the improvements made by our teams have been recognised. Our staff work incredibly hard to deliver safe, high-quality care, and it is encouraging to see the positive feedback from patients about their experiences.
“We recognise that there is still room for improvement and take the learning from the inspection seriously. We remain focused on continuing to improve and ensuring every patient receives the best possible care.”
