Once you have confirmed that you would like to work with the Specialist Weight Management Service and you reach the top of our waiting list, we will send you several health and lifestyle questionnaires to complete. The information you provide will help us understand your needs and support you effectively on your weight‑loss journey.
Once we receive your completed questionnaires, you will be invited to attend one of our weigh clinics. During this brief appointment, lasting around 10 minutes, we will record your height and weight. Please note that this visit also ensures you still meet our eligibility criteria. If you no longer meet the criteria, you will not be able to continue with the Specialist Weight Management Service and will be discharged back to the care of your GP.
If you continue to meet our criteria following your weigh clinic appointment, we will offer you an initial assessment. This assessment typically takes place via video call or telephone. A limited number of face‑to‑face appointments are available when clinically appropriate.
The initial assessment lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. During this time, we will review your questionnaires and learn more about you; your weight history, lifestyle, and your goals for weight loss. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
The information you share will help us work together to plan your starting steps within the service.
