School Nurses are Registered Nurses, many of whom have an additional qualification as a Public Health Nurse who specialise in child and adolescent health, working with the school and wider community.

We aim to promote the health and wellbeing of all school age children and their families. We work in partnership with health, education, social services, and voluntary agencies.

School Nurses provide health promotion and advice to all school-aged children, including:

  • Reception health screening
  • National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP)
  • Puberty
  • Transition to adult services
  • High school health drop ins
  • Public health
  • Brief interventions for health needs
  • Level one continence assessments
  • Referrals to targeted services
  • Support for children with additional needs
  • Support and health assessments for looked after children
  • Health representation for children querying multi agency safeguarding support
