We offer a Monday to Friday service 8am to 6pm.

We encourage patients to leave a message if they have any query relating to their disease and treatment or management or if they need a stoma review.

  • Bleeding persistently from stoma
  • New swelling of the stoma
  • Ulceration on stoma
  • Change in stoma colour from usual
  • Prolapse – increased length of stoma
  • Trauma / injury to stoma
  • Continuous diarrhoea for more than three days (colostomy)
  • Change from usual bowel function pattern (colostomy)
  • No output for 4-6 hours together with abdominal pain / nausea (ileostomy)
  • Liquid output and increased volume of more than 1000mls in 24 hours (ileostomy)
  • Blood in urine or no urine (urostomy)
  • Very dry or wet skin which stops bag sticking
  • Scaly, irritated itchy skin or rashes
  • Weeping, smelly discharge or pus from skin
  • Lumps or bumps or bleeding from the skin
  • Ulceration on the skin
  • Pain or discomfort to the skin
  • New bulge or lump around the stoma (hernia)
  • Appliance not sticking to the skin properly

Also if you:

  • Are new to the area
  • Are admitted to hospital with a stoma-related problem
  • Have a change of stoma prescription needs
  • Are unable to care independently for stoma
  • Need advice on stoma management / function
  • Need advice around long term / existing skin problems
  • Have change in colour of urine (urostomy)
