Seven Physiotherapy Apprentices at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals have successfully completed their final exams with the University of Lancashire, marking the end of a challenging and rewarding three-year apprenticeship programme.

Physiotherapy apprenticeship students (1).jpgThe apprentices, who form the Blackpool cohort, will receive their registration from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in September before graduating alongside their fellow students in December.

Jay Collins, Apprentice Physiotherapist, said: “Over the last three years we have completed placements, assignments, dissertations and clinical work mixed with our regular home lives.

“We are so proud of our collective achievements which are shared with the amazing support from the Trust, our Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) and educators during this time”.

The placements have taken them to a variety of areas across Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, including:

  • Critical Care
  • Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit
  • Acute Orthopaedics
  • Acute Paediatrics.

Rebecca Robinson, Associate Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) at the Trust, said: “As PEFs, we have the privilege of supporting apprenticeship students throughout every stage of their placement journey.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of the role is seeing apprentices develop into competent, confident professionals by the end of their programme”.

Mark Hayes, Head of Learning and Apprenticeships said: “On behalf of the Learning and Apprenticeship Team, I would like to congratulate the apprentices on the completion of their Level 6 Physiotherapy Degree apprenticeship.

“Their achievement reflects not only their personal commitment to becoming qualified physiotherapists, but also the strength of the apprenticeship programme in developing and delivering talented healthcare professionals. I would like to extend my thanks also to those involved in supporting them to succeed.

“I am delighted to see the group progress and wish each and every newly qualified Physiotherapist every success, as they begin this exciting new chapter in their careers”.

Over the last year the Trust has supported hundreds of apprentices on their educational journey.

The Trust would like to congratulate Jay, Emily, Dominic, Kathryn, Emma, Gralyn and Chloe on their achievement and thank everyone across the organisation who has supported them throughout their journey to becoming qualified physiotherapists.

Our congratulations also go to our University of Salford Physiotherapist Apprentices who have also completed their Level Physiotherapy Degree Apprenticeship in the summer of 2026.
