Hospital Pharmacists are a vital part of the healthcare team. Working in either the NHS or private hospitals, being a hospital pharmacist means you’re part of a team where the focus is firmly on patients. 

Pharmacists make a difference to the lives of their patients through an expert knowledge of medicines and health. Helping people live longer and healthier lives depends on the safe use of medicines and excellent healthcare advice. Pharmacists' unique expertise and knowledge makes them essential members of the healthcare team.

Meet some of our Pharmacists working at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals as they share what they enjoy about their roles at the Trust.

"I enjoy working as a Pharmacist in Blackpool because I believe it provides a great balance for me with regards to career progression (a continually evolving role), Inclusivity and satisfaction from being an important part of patient care.

The highlights of my role includes being able to make a vital input in a patient's life by providing a pharmacist's expert advice on medications thereby ensuring safe and effective treatments for the very best outcomes."

"I enjoy working as a Pharmacist in Blackpool because I have the opportunity to support patients, listen to their concerns and educate them with tailored advice about their medicines which empowers them and ultimately contributes to improving public health. No two days are the same, which makes the role challenging yet rewarding.

The highlights of my role include multidisciplinary working, as my role sits within the Nutrition Support Team, I enjoy working as a team to optimise patients’ care and value the opportunity to learn from my colleagues. Their expertise enhances my own practice which ultimately leads to better outcomes for the patients we care for."
