Blue Skies, our official Trust charity, has provided dedicated chairs for patient relatives on the Acute Stroke Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Blue Skies chairs.jpgRecovery from stroke is not only a physical journey but an emotional one too. Families play a vital role in supporting their loved ones during this challenging time.

Stroke patients often face significant psychological and emotional challenges as part of their recovery. Being close to loved ones can provide reassurance, reduce anxiety, and promote wellbeing.

Comfortable seating allows relatives to remain at the bedside for longer periods, offering meaningful support without disrupting patient rest or safety.

Providing appropriate seating also helps reduce congestion around bed spaces, helping clinical teams to easily access patients to carry out assessments, administer medication, and deliver high-quality care in a calm and organised environment.

Lisa, Ward Manager of the Acute Stroke Unit, also known as Ward 32, says: “Having these dedicated chairs from Blue Skies will be a game-changer for Ward 32. Recovery is an emotional journey, and by providing families with a comfortable place to sit, we’re helping them stay by their loved one’s side longer, which is vital for reducing patient anxiety.”
