The Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Green Plan 2026-28 builds on the progress we have already
made, guided by our commitment to improve the lives of those who live, work, and volunteer in our community.
This plan sets out ambitious goals: achieving net zero for direct emissions by 2040 and for emissions we can influence by 2045. It details practical actions across our estate, energy use, waste management, travel, food, and models of care. Importantly, it places people—our staff, patients, and partners—at the heart of our efforts, recognising that meaningful change is
only possible through collaboration and shared purpose.
As we look to the future, we invite everyone in our Trust and community to join us in this vital work. Together, we can create a healthier, more resilient, and sustainable future for all.
