Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is proud to have an established Medical Society programme that is open to all 14+ high school age young people from the Fylde Coast.

If you’re interested in a career in medicine (a doctor for example), then Blackpool Teaching Hospital’s Medical Society is the place for you.

Being a part of our society will enable you to build contacts with local doctors and enhance your application to medical school. You will even receive a certificate of attendance to showcase in your application!

The society meets virtually every month, with a further 3 in-person sessions throughout the year. We welcome guest speakers to the sessions who provide insights into what a career in medicine entails.

Who can apply? If you are interested, aged 14+ and live in the local area, please email Julie Summers.

Pre-medical work experience

This is structured three-day programme specifically designed for learners who wish to pursue a career in the medicine.

The programme gives an insight into this chosen career and gives learners the opportunity to discuss and experience various medical related subjects and join a community of learners who are all wishing to apply to medical school.

Who can apply? Interested learners who are 17 years of age and over, who wish to follow a career in medicine and must live in the local area can apply.

How to apply. Requests for the Medical Society or medical work experience must be received via the application form
